Waiting for the “Mood Bus” to Arrive

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

By Meloney Hall How many times have your heard Im not in the mood or When Im in the mood, Ill do it,? We talk about our moods as if they are things that come along like buses or trains and we hop on and ride them until its time to get off when we reach a destination, wherever that is and wherever it ends up. Pull the Cord DING time to get off! When it relates to the gastric bypass bariatric weight-loss patient, the mood is a very funny thing to measure since we find ourselves on incredible mood swings at times. Why is that? Why do we have such mood swings for about the first six months of our weight-loss journey? Its basically because fat cells harbor our hormones; and when we are shrinking away our fat cells, our hormones are affected tremendously, and often, they appear out of control. Some of us are better at coping with these drastic hormonal changes, and others certainly are challenged with disguising their mood swings. I bet right now, you can identify a few situations where you didnt understand why you suddenly lashed out at someone, cried unexpectedly, or totally misunderstood something and took it offensively. Youre confused as to why you have reacted in this fashion when its not even in your character. If it normally isnt in your character to behave in such a manner, then you have to realize that your fat cells and hormones are on the roller coaster ride of their life and they too are confused! Theyve never before been subject to such sudden and dramatic changes because youve never lost so much weight so rapidly before in your entire dieting history. How can you counteract these mood swings? Heres some tips: Recognition: They are what they are fat cells and hormones trying their best to function. Be Hopeful: The swings wont last forever only for about six months along your weight-loss journey until the hormones get settled and back to normal. Pause Before Responding: Youve heard that counting to ten thing. This gives the mind a bit of time to rationally and logically prepare rather than burst out like a cannon with bad aim. Inhale Deeply: Additional oxygen in the lungs gets to the blood cells which gets to the brain. Dont make your brain be on an oxygen diet because that only impairs your thinking. Consider the Consequences: Will your mood hurt someone? Will it cause more confusion to the situation? Bad consequences can never be escaped. And if youre not good at apologizing, youll damage important relationships even further. Get Adequate Rest: The body and the mind needs to shut down and regroup to function at its best. Cheating yourself of adequate rest magnifies the mood swings. Eat Nutritionally: This is a no-brainer to us, isnt it? We are more aware of our bodys nutritional needs than weve ever been aware in our lives because our bloodwork will show our doctor the truth during our follow-up visits. Walk it Off, Soak it Out: Take a walk or a long hot bath to relax yourself. Dont make important decisions when you feel tense. Get Help: if things are too overwhelming, seek help from supporters or even from the medical profession. Theres should be no shame in asking for help. Inform Others: Or shall I say warn others of your temporary circumstance? You just might avoid future misunderstandings this way. Get Sunshine: Every chance you get spend some time in the sunshine! Part the drapes, open the blinds, take a walk, go for a drive, sit on a park bench just enjoy the sunshine! Serotonin (chemical in our body that affects our moods) is increased when we are in the bright sunshine. Write it Out: Write your moods/frustrations down on paper. Keep them in a journal for future review or instantly throw them away. This exercise is simply to release the steam that might be building up inside of you. Its Not Unique: When you consider that youre not unique to these mood swings, you can take comfort to know that others are experiencing the same kind of things. Youre not going crazy. Select ONE item from the list above and work on it RIGHT NOW TODAY. It all begins HERE! Keep adding ideas from the above list, and soon youll be feeling better about your moods and become less prone to surrendering to your out-of-control feelings or emotions. Stop waiting for the Mood Bus to come youre no longer the passenger, youve been promoted to the DRIVER in control of your own route! Do You Recognise the Top 5 Warning Signs that You are Marrying the Wrong Person?

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Amanda Jane If you are dating someone and things are looking forward, you may be thinking about marriage. However, too many people make the mistake of jumping head first into an engagement without thinking things through properly. It’s easy to do when you have fallen for someone, but there are some things which you should consider before committing to spending the rest of your life with your partner.Has your partner ever abused you? Abuse comes in many forms, but can be categorized into physical and emotional. While physical abuse is usually obvious to everyone, emotional abuse can be harder to define. If your partner is intentionally making you feel bad about yourself, that is a sure fire sign of emotional abuse. If your partner is supposedly unintentionally making you feel down, but it is happening on a regular basis, this is usually another sign of emotional abuse. While sometimes difficult to recognise, and even harder to accept, emotional abuse is a serious problem. Ask yourself whether you feel as happy as you want to when you are with your partner. If not, then you should put your wedding plans on hold for now and seek help. No one wants to spend the rest of their life being a victim of abuse, and whatever your partner may say, remember, there is no excuse for abuse, you deserve better. Are you sexually compatible? This involves a a lot more than just joining the pieces together. Different people undoubtedly have different attitudes towards sex. One of the great things that makes people individual is there different tastes, and sexual desires falls under this. If you have completely different attitudes to sex you should not necessarily call things off, however, you should devote some time to trying to work things out. However, one sex related reason you may want to call things off is if one partner is ever hurtful during sex, again either physically or emotionally. You will need to search inside your self and decide whether you are comfortable with having similar sex for the rest of your life or whether you would prefer a lover more in tune with your sexual tastes.Has your partner ever betrayed you? Like many aspects of a relationship, betrayal comes in many forms. To begin with has your lover ever cheated on you? If they have and you have taken them back, how can you be sure they won’t do it again? While some people do choose to forgive an unfaithful partner, all most all will never forget. Do you really want to spend the rest of your life with them wondering if they could be cheating on you with someone else? Not all betrayals involve cheating. Some people’s partners steal from them. If this has happened to you, you should really question their motives for doing so. If your partner really cares for you then why would they steal from you? Are they likely to do so again? And will you be left wondering?Does your partner have an addiction? While not necessarily a reason to end things, this is a reason to put the wedding on hold, and definitely a reason to seek help. If your partner suffers from an addiction, for example alcohol, drugs, or gambling, can you imagine what effect this could have on your married life? Can you trust them not to misspend or steal money to finance their addiction? What negative impacts may an addiction have on yourself or your children (either future children or present children)? Do not despair, most addicts can be cured, however the process is long an difficult, but if you really love the person, you may want to put your wedding on hold and help them through their problems.Do you have similar attitudes towards children? While this may or may not be at the forefront of your mind right now, the issue of having children will most likely be raised at some point in your marriage. It is important to discuss these issues before taking the plunge. If your partner has a completely different attitude to children than you, you may want to call off the wedding however difficult that may be. As the number of marriages that are second marriages for at least one person in the couple is increasing, their is a greater chance of children from previous relationships being around. This may affect peoples interest in having more children. If your partner wants children but you do not, or vice-versa, you will have to consider whether you are suitable for marriage or not. While not all of the above reasons scream out “end things right now”, they are all warning signs that unless something is done, you could be heading head first into a marriage you may regret. Remember, calling things off is never easy, but it is often easier than a painful and costly divorce, and much better than spending the rest of your life in a relationship you are unhappy with. Find out more about whether you are marring the wrong person or just suffering from cold feet wedding nerves. If you are in fact looking forwards towards getting married then why not get some wedding etiquette advice to help with planning a wedding. Diagnostic Tests to Identify Depression

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Brian M. Wall Depression is much more common than most people realize and certainly not due to any fault of the sufferer. The earlier a person seeks help to cure depression, the better it is for him and his loved ones. The early warning signs are often ignored as just a passing phase. Sometimes a person may have gone through a difficult or trying time and hence it is natural not to feel particularly bright and optimistic at all times. However it is important to recognize that sometimes one needs professional help to overcome depression, even if one feels it a temporary phase and one can handle it. Very often when a person seeks professional help he spends a lot of time with a psychiatrist and then a psychologist in order to establish or confirm the diagnosis. Depression is actually a fairly general term that covers a range of depressive disorders. In order to cure depression the doctor needs to identify the type and treat it appropriately. It is only after the diagnosis has been confirmed that the doctor can proceed to cure depression in a patient. The doctor takes a detailed history of the patients background, symptoms and any triggering episodes. It is important to be completely honest with the doctor as this will help you overcome depression. The doctor seeks information about many physical and emotional signs in the sufferer. The most common signs of depression include the inability to experience pleasure. Nothing seems to make the person happy. Depressed people are often withdrawn from their family and friends. The doctor also looks for telltale signs of low motivation and energy and low tolerance of frustration. Other information that the doctor needs to know is about any loss in sex drive, unusual weight gain or weight loss and in the case of women if there have been any abnormalities in the menstrual cycle. Insomnia and early morning awakening, symptoms of depression being worse in the mornings are other typical signs. Patients often complain of constipation, headaches and dry mouth. The psychologist observes the patient and conducts certain tests to determine the mental status. The general appearance and behavior gives a lot of information, particularly if the person appears agitated and avoids eye contact. The person also seems downcast and is unconcerned about his or her physical appearance. The persons mood may be depressed, irritable frustrated or sad and speech may lack spontaneity. Many depressed persons have suicidal thoughts and deep feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness. This often leads to impaired judgment and also poor memory. A psychologist carefully assesses if five or more of the above symptoms are present in the patient. Further he checks if they cause impairment in the persons normal social, occupational or other functioning. He delves into the personal history to determine whether the symptoms are not due to substance abuse or recent loss of a loved one. The doctor will also rule out any other psychological disorder. If the person has been suffering like this for over two months and is finding it difficult to function normally, the doctor will diagnose the ailment as a major depressive episode. Depression has certain age specific symptoms as well. In young persons it can lead to substance abuse, promiscuity and antisocial behavior. Elderly patients suffer from memory loss, confusion and disorientation. Whatever the diagnosis, modern medicine can help a person overcome depression. It helps the doctor make the diagnosis if the patient cooperates with the doctor. After all both patient and doctor are looking to cure depression so the person can live a full life once again. Writing Nonprofit Marketing Copy That Works - 5 Tips for Success

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

By Nancy E. Schwartz 1. Be reader-centered, not writer-centered. Many brochures, websites, and direct mail I see from nonprofits is focused on how great their services, products and organizations are. Hello? Audience, anyone? Consider your reader thinking, “What’s in it for me?” If you can, talk with some of your current donors, volunteers, members and clients and ask them 1) why they chose you, and 2) what they get out of your product, service or giving. HINT: To instantly make your copy more reader-focused, insert the word “you” often. 2. Focus on the benefits - not just the features. The fact that your program, service or giving and volunteer opportunities offer a lot of neat features is great, but describing these features is not enough. Focus on benefits - what the features do for your audience. Let’s say your organization provides health services to the uninsured and to Medicaid and Medicare patients. Feature/ benefit sets to incorporate into marketing materials might include: Feature: Access to healthcare services for everyone. Benefit: You’ll be healthier, feel better and have more energy. As a result, you’ll miss less time from work and family responsibilities. Feature: Appointment times guaranteed within 15 minutes. Benefit: You have to take off less time from work and can accurately predict when you’ll return. Feature: Medical staff is skilled in environmental health problems in the local community. Benefit: Peace of mind. You can rely on the medical team’s skill in diagnosing and treating health issues that are unique to your community. 3. Draw audiences in with a whammo headline. The first line your reader sees means the difference between success and failure. Today’s promotions are typically clever headlines that play on words. They’re cute, but most of them aren’t effective. There are many ways to get attention with a headline, but it’s safest to appeal to your reader’s interests and concerns. And again, remember to make it reader centered. That’s what counts. Blah: “Nonprofit Leadership Center Offers Unique New Accounting Training Program.” Better: “Turn Your Nonprofit’s Finances Around in 60 Days!” 4. Use engaging subheads. Like mini-headlines, subheads help readers quickly understand your main points by making copy “skimmable.” Read through your copy for your main promotional points, then summarize those ideas as subheads. To make your subheads engaging, it’s important to include action or sales elements. Bad: “Our Organization’s Success Stories.” Better: “Meet Three Clients Who Won Their Legal Battles With Our Help.” 5. Be conversational. Write to your audiences like you talk to them. Don’t be afraid of using conversational phrases such as “So what’s next?” or “Here’s how you can join today.” Avoid formality and use short, simple words. Why? Even if you think your copy can’t be misunderstood, a few people won’t get it or take the time to decipher it. Nancy E. 8 Tips To Help You Get That Raise

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

By Lee Dobbins Nobody likes going in to ask the boss for a raise, but everyone likes getting one! Unfortunately, sometimes the only way to get the boss to hike your pay is to go in and ask. This can be a bit stressful and awkward, but heres 8 tips you can use to make asking easier and better your chances of getting that well deserved pay increase. 1. Be Prepared. You cant just burst into your bosses office demanding a raise - you need a plan of action. List all the projects youve completed since your last pay increase. Make note of how successful they have been and how theyve increased productivity or saved the company money. If youve accrued any new job skills make a list of those too. Also write down any special skills or knowledge you bring to the job. Find out what the typical raise or salary is for someone in your position. Go in ready with the facts and it will be hard for your boss to argue with you! 2. Always ask for more than you really want. Its the bosses first instinct to negotiate and he or she will inevitable try to talk you down. By asking for a bit more than what you really want then you might end up getting what you really wanted in the first place! If they say yes at your first price then youve got a bonus! 3. Anticipate to negotiate. Maybe three other people got raises this week or your coming is going through a slow down. It may not be feasible to grant your wish for a raise so you need to be flexible on this and have your alternate strategy prepare ahead of time. You may want to try other ways of getting a raise too, such as additional vacation time, employee perks or more time off. All of these can be just as good (if not better!) than an actual amount of money. 4. Select your time wisely. Avoid choosing a Monday or Friday because thats typically when bosses are at their busiest. According to studies, people are most receptive after lunch on Tuesday or Wednesday. At any rate, try to select a time when your boss will have a few spare minutes and wont be distracted with other things. If youre afraid of being interrupted during your request, ask to speak to your supervisor for a few minutes after hours. 5. Dont get upset of yell if your boss objects to your raise at first. After all, you are being paid to do a certain job, and now youre asking for more money to do the same job. Be professional and polite at all times, and listen more than demand. Chances are, if your supervisor doesnt award you a raise, they might hint at what else could be done to earn it. If they dont, dont be afraid to ask what steps would be necessary to prove yourself. 6. Dont threaten to quite if you dont get what you want. He may just call your bluff and let you go! 7. Be confident and get straight to the point. No beating around the bush. Just come right out and state your facts and reasons you think you deserve a raise. If you have Thank You notes from customers or letters from the company praising you for a job well done, bring those to your meeting as well, as theyll help to cement your request and remind your supervisor of your role within the company and its progress. 8. Dont compare yourself to coworkers or talk about them negatively. This will only make you look bad in the bosses eyes. Now, the next time you think you deserve a raise you can gather your facts and go in there confidently and professionally and ask for what you deserve. Lee Dobbins write on many topics. Unemployment Blues: Life Changing Events

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Virginia Bola, PsyD If we are unlucky enough to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, we experience a personal tsunami - a misfortune of devastating proportions that sweeps away our routine lifestyle and forever changes the world we know. Yet despite the frequency of such events - the tidal waves of Asia, the hurricanes of the Gulf Coast, the loss of life in the Middle East, the wildfires and mudslides of California - most of us are only indirectly affected. We bleed for those who have lost everything, give what we can out of our pocketbooks and our hearts, but our world is essentially unchanged and we move along in our personal life journey relatively unscathed. The vast majority of us will never undergo the wrenching jolt of a major disaster, natural or man-made. The sheer size of the human race insulates millions of us from the floods, the bombs, and the mayhem. For us, the life-changing events we experience never hit the front page. Personal, quiet disasters - divorce, death, bankruptcy, or unemployment - change our lives forever but remain unnoticed by all but our closest friends and family. We pick up the pieces and try to get it together without government or private succor and support. It is the isolation of personal loss that is so emotional destructive. We struggle alone to try to make sense of what went wrong and how we can recover our equilibrium. Others are sympathetic and wish us well but there is an abyss between those who have a job and those who cannot find one. The longer we are out of work, the more alienated we become. Even those who love us start to worry that there’s something wrong with us. They start to suspect that we’re not as motivated as we say we are. Everyone has plenty of glib advice: “Have you tried . . . ?” Of course we have -many times and always without success. We become more disheartened as we analyze everything we’ve done and realize we have tried every trick in the book and still cannot find anything suitable. Some of us get stuck in depression, anger, or paralyzing anxiety. Our energy drains away and even the smallest action becomes more and more difficult. As frustration and financial pressures mount, we wallow in the unfairness of it all and reminisce about how perfect everything was when we had a job and a future and hope, wondering why all this had to happen. As with hurricanes and tsunamis and terrorism, the victims are not responsible for the catastrophe they face. Life-changing events do just that - change our lives, sometimes forever. Change can be negative, fear-provoking, and desperately uncomfortable. But, if we look closer, we’ll see it also has a positive face. Without change, our modern world wouldn’t exist. We would be living the way our ancestors did. And while olden times may sound attractive in their pristine simplicity, such times were filled with disease, inequality and a raw brutality we could not stomach today. We need to embrace change and, despite the turmoil it brings, look for the silver lining hidden within the storm clouds. Although you now remember your job with nostalgic affection, there were undoubtedly times that you wished you could quit. Even if you loved what you were doing, any single job position only taps into a small part of your potential. Being forced to make a change allows you to develop other domains of your personal character. Try to analyze your interests and preferences and identify things you would like to do which have not been utilized by your prior jobs. Can you think of an industry or a particular job title that might allow you to move in a new direction? Think about, and complete some preliminary research on, jobs in new industries that you might be able to do. You may not have directly related experience but there are common themes that permeate every kind of work: the ability to communicate, to work as part of a team, to learn rapidly, to be aware of details, to organize and prioritize. If you pick an area of genuine personal interest, you enthusiasm will clearly and naturally emerge and that is something all employers seek. The job hunting you have been doing may, without your realizing it, have become routine and uninspired. The experience of failure and the frustration of never receiving positive feedback may have led to your merely “going through the motions,” already convinced, in your own mind, of the futility of your efforts. Taking a new direction can open up your job search tunnel. Instead of beating your head against the wall and revisiting every technique and lead you’ve tried before, moving into a different environment may give you a new sense of purpose and appreciation of your own potential. That is when the positive effects of forced change can become a new source of pleasure and satisfaction. Comparing Fresh & Silk flowers

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

By Chad Harris The journey of life is full of special moments, celebrations and jubilations. Sending fresh and silk flowers at such times make these moments more beautiful and special. Often buying fresh lilies or buying silk flowers involves great emotions, as it is for a special person. Not every time you need to buy flowers to celebrate a moment, but at times just by sending or giving flowers to your loved ones, can be the icing on the cake, that makes it more memorable. Sending flowers is an internationally popular way of expressing love and care. In fact every flower and every color has a special significance and connotes a special emotion. Giving flowers is an old trend that will never loose its charm. Flowers for events Flowers of different types and colors are used for different events. Fresh flowers produce terrific fragrance, that can fill a room. Where as, artificial flowers can be kept as mementos and preserved as memories. Orchids, fresh cut lilies, tulips and roses of pink shades, if combined together, make the most stunning bouquet of wedding flowers. Lighter shades of pink flowers, which stand for happiness and joy, are most used for as wedding flowers. Similarly there are special fresh and artificial flowers, which are arranged together as birthday flowers and anniversary flowers. Flowers do not only make beautiful gifts, but can be customized almost any way you want. In some cases artificial flowers are more preferred, as they can be stored. They also come in many varieties and colors. In fact artificial flowers, such as the ones made from silks and latex look amazingly beautiful, almost exactly like the natural ones and are also very cheap. Latex flowers have extra soft petals giving the flower a natural feel. As these flowers come with a long stem they can also be used in vases. Moreover when it comes to sending flowers you basically have two options. Fresh cut flowers, or artificial ones. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Fresh Flowers vs. Silk Flowers Fresh flowers have their own beauty and fragrance, which, cannot be copied. The diversity that fresh flowers offer is really amazing. In fact no two red roses, or any other flowers for that matter, can ever look the same. The natural beauty can never be duplicated. Every flower is a masterpiece and a combination of such masterpieces surely makes up an enchanting arrangement or bouquet. However natural flowers are often seasonal and not all varieties are available through out the year. Further more fresh flowers dont remain fresh for a long time and perish easily. On the other hand Silk flowers last for years. Silks come in a wide variety of quality. The better ones are hard to distinguish from the natural ones. Silk flowers of all varieties are available through- out the year and are definitely cheaper than the natural ones. These flowers just need to be dusted off and washed from time to time. Where to buy To buy silk flowers there are various online sellers who offer these flowers at discount rates. Higher discounts can be available if flowers are purchased in bulk. Silk flowers can also be purchased from crafts shops. Similarly there are florists who can deliver these flowers on demand. Florists today along with the fresh ones have also started keeping silk flowers. Buying fresh flowers is more recommended from local florists. In fact go personally to shop for them. When you need large quantities of fresh flowers, go to flower markets, where you can get fresh flowers at wholesale rates. Chad Harris is the founder of Flower-Guide.net. The Occult

By Robert Baird “Christianity posits the realization of human freedom not here on earth but only in the Kingdom of Heaven.” (1) Fukayama tells us, and it seems to me he is interpreting what the dogma says; even though it fits his own slave and master concept taken by his evil predecessors. Right as he may be about Christianity, he is not right about the teaching of Jesus. Well, what good is there in such a belief system? It encourages no growth or potential for freedom while you are alive. It gives no insight to actual knowing of what exists hereafter, except through faith in someone telling you what is right. How can anyone accept such utter hogwash? Are we to be enslaved to such a cosmogony while alive? God grows too, and he would be dead if he didn’t. All things around us in nature say change is a good thing. Why would a ’social engineer’ like Fukayama tell us that Christianity is the ‘absolute religion’? Is this more expert inducement to be a slave? Methinks there is something rotten afoot, and not just in Denmark. His knowledge of early religions is not displayed in his book. I hope to show all religions have used knowledge that when others employ it they call it occult or some other derogatory name. I will have to show certain people and families in corporate or business life are also involved in the religions to the point of controlling them. His judgement seems uneducated and unwise to me. His good versus evil Nietzschean dialogue is not aware of the truth plainly available in the words of the Britannica in reference to Zoroaster. They say this good versus evil thing of Christianity with a battle being won by good is there 500 years earlier in Zoroastrianism. In truth it was there in Egypt’s Abraxas, and in the Keltic Creed and many other places. There is no merit in such assertions and the issuance of them from the hegemony makes me Blanche and sputter, at times. How can you say man is free only in heaven or the hereafter and hope to build positive models of behaviour? This is especially true when you can buy ’special dispensations’ or simply confess in order to gain forgiveness. This is the kind of religion the Mafia would love! The cover of Cahill’s book The Gifts of the Jews shows all the councils of the Christians are behind another ‘Bible Narrative’. Please question such authoritarian assurances and employ your own soulful sensibilities. When you are troubled do not desist, but rather persevere and learn to see the Peace they seek to destroy or hide from you. Shalom! Vivekananda, Swami Chinmayananda or lesser gurus are not the only adepts who teach self-mastery and how the mind or brain experiences the world around us. Rishis or Mahatmas are not regarded as occultists and yet the techniques they use have been shared for thousands of years by people throughout the world. Part of the whole issue of human cultural development is the Flat Earth fiction that continues to make people think that one point of view is better than some other point of view. It is as if the people of Europe think that their own leaders did not send their best students to get the best education or import the teachers who already had learned Tantra, and the Therapeutaes arts derived from Druidism and shamanism or the Magian arts. At some level you can find adepts in the most orthodox religions. The Sufis of Islam or the Carmelites and Santerians of Catholicism come to mind but there are many mystical or occult sects in Buddhism. “The universe is a self-organizing system engaged in the discovery and realization of its possibilities through a continuing process of transcendence towards ever higher levels of order and self-definition. Modern science has confirmed the ancient Hindu belief that all matter exists as a continuing dance of flowing energies. Yet matter is somehow able to maintain the integrity of its boundaries and internal structures in the midst of apparent disorder. Similarly the cells of a living organism, which are in a constant state of energy flux, maintain their individual integrity while functioning coherently as parts of larger wholes. This ability implies some form of self-knowledge in both inert matter and living organisms at each level of organization. Intelligence and consciousness may take many forms and are in some way pervasive even in matter. What we know of life may not be an accident of creation but rather integral to it, an attractor that shapes the creative unfolding of the cosmos. To the extent that these premises are true, they suggest we have scarcely begun to imagine, much less experience, the possibilities of our own capacity for intelligent self-aware living. Nor have we tested our potentials for self-directed cooperation as a foundation of modern social organization. Evolution, although it involves competitive struggles, violence and death, also involves love, nurturance, rebirth and regeneration-and is a fundamentally cooperative and intelligent enterprise. There is substantial evidence that it is entirely natural for healthy humans to live fully and mindfully in service to the unfolding capacities of self, community, and the planet. Yet in our forgetfulness, we have come to doubt this aspect of our own being. Nurturing the creative development of our capacities for mindful living should be a primary function of the institutions of civilized societies. It is time that we awaken from our forgetfulness and assume conscious responsibility for reshaping our institutions to this end. Written by David C. Korten in the prologue of “The Post-Corporate World” Life after capitalism http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1576750515/102-1126258-0124163 (2) There are many people who follow greatness or need to be lead and we must investigate any who tell us about great things they have experienced. This can be very difficult because what works for one person will not work for another person for reasons of their differentness as well as the constant availability of knowledge and direct cognition or what I call tap-ins. I provide a comment from one of Gurdjieffs students who saw others finding illumination in a way he personally found silly. This is an excerpt from William Welch M. D.s remembrances of this great man who saw most humans could not think or even feel their way to actual wisdom. Gurdjieffs structured dance allowed certain parts of the mind to integrate and then connect without any obstruction from the programming and fears of their lives. This is my personal opinion that you might not agree with too. This excerpt is in relation to the ritual of bathing and saunas that Gurdjieff did while in New York shortly before he passed away. I was astounded to read some years later that among the bemused adepts who participated in this droll ritual, one believed himself to have been initiated into some special level of illumination in the course of his gradual, and ultimately total, immersion. I am afraid my only illumination derived from the shuddering chill to which I never became wholly acclimated, as my fundament and its anterior appendages were finally plunged into the icy water. (3) The idea that a fully diluted homeopathic tincture might heal through some imprint left by Cyanide found in peach pits or laetrile is just one of the conundrums that science still struggles to face. But the fact is cyanide kills cells and results have been achieved by some people who might have attuned themselves with that small amount of Cyanide that Japanese researchers found in peach pits after the US researchers said there was no possible agent that could kill cancer cells in peach pits. The implications of this extend to genetic rituals that modern science cannot see the effects of, and other energy lattice memory or Intelligence. One of my correspondents is a genetic researcher at a university in the Midwestern United States and we both have found artifacts that indicate the use of harmonic attunement with matter in rocks and we are open to this same method being used in affecting the DNA of animal life including humans.
